- Added a group and corporate cabin to accommodate up to 8 guests, with a common area within the cabin that's perfect for small group discussions or meetings. This cabin has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Main lodge has a lounge and dining room, with patio doors that allow easy access to
the full deck, the perfect spot to relax during
the long northern evenings and swap stories about
the legendary fishing at Athabasca.
- Guest cabin improvements include new furniture,
carpet, and heat pumps and airconditioning.
- At Engler there's a new central shower and
bathroom together with hot and cold running water.
A new power plant building was constructed, and
moved farther away from the cabins and lodge.
- New fishing boats and 40 hp Yamaha motors have been added to Otherside Lodge, with new 25 hp Yamaha motors at Engler and at the flyouts.
- We've lengthened and improved the walking trail to allow better access to river fishing along the Otherside River near the lodge. The trail is a pleasant walk through forest wilderness, and there's a good chance of seeing wildlife such as the many bald eagles that nest along the river.

What Our Guests Have to

Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality. It was another great trip. When I tell people that we caught 52 Pike over 40 inches, including a 47 incher caught right out in front of the lodge, they think I am telling a fish story. it is all true and I can't wait to get back next year. Have a great year!

To keep it short and sweet, the four of us [Kevin Sickles (me), Jim and Pete Worrell and Henry Comp (my uncle)] had the fishing trip of our lives this year (June 2008) at Blackmur's Atahabasca Fishing Lodges (aka Otherside RIver Lodge) and we owe it all to you both. From the delicious home-cooked catered breakfasts and dinners served daily at the lodge (Stella..thanks for your sensational cooking) to the cozy laid-back cabins, and, last but not least, the best pike fishing in North America, the only place that could ever even possibly compare is a place some call HEAVEN!! Thanks again for all the sensational memories that we will cherish forever and we owe it all to your hard work and dedication! We look forward to coming back in June 2009.
In 8-days, the four of us caught 51 trophy pike (over 40-inches long) with the biggest being 48-inches which I caught. My uncle Henry and Pete caught 47-inchers and Jim caught a 45-incher.

Thank you Cliff and Stella, and the entire staff, for one of our greatest trips. Four day totals for our group of 6: 45 trophy Northerns - 12 over 45 inches; 9 trophy Lake Trout - 7 over 38 inches; hundreds of walleye. We can't wait to come back.

Our fishing trip to Engler was the best we have ever had in the 21 years that I have been coming up. We caught 50 Northerns over 40 inches; our biggest was 49 inches. We caught many walleyes in the 23 to 25 inch range. It was truly a trip to remember. The fishing gets better every year. I have to believe that it is the catch and release program that you have that has been sustaining the excellent fishing for this many years.

My life long dreams have been achieved by everybody's hospitality and the kindness extended to me and my family at Otherside Fishing Lodge. Not only outstanding fishing, the best we have experienced in 35 fly-in trips in three provinces, but the true feeling of friendship, and making our trips so enjoyable. Thanks from all of us. We are very grateful to all of you.
